Eekels | TBI commissioned for second SeaXplorer

Eekels has been commissioned by Damen Shipyards Gorinchem to implement the electrical installation in the soon to be built SeaXplorer 77. This is the successor to the SeaXplorer 62, for which Eekels received a commision in 2017.

The SeaXplorer 77 is a combination of a luxurious superyacht and an expedition yacht, a bespoke design in accordance with the client’s wishes. With a diving centre, an underwater hangar and a floating helideck for two helicopters, this extraordinary vessel is suitable for heli-skiing, diving and other adventures in both tropical waters and in the Arctic. The SeaXplorer 77 provides accommodation for 12 guests and 25 crew and expedition members.

Eekels will be responsible for integrating the electrical installations and drive systems, the current and light distribution boxes, the complete lighting installation, the battery system, the frequency inverters, the shore converter and the Marpower alarm and monitoring system including fire and gas detection. The luxury lighting and domotics (interior automation) is fully custom-made.

Construction of the vessel will mainly be built at Damen Shipyard Galati (Romania). Eekels Romania will take care of the steel work and the wiring of the electrical installation, as well as the commissioning including the presentation of the systems to Klasse. The finish will take place at the superyacht builder Amels in Vlissingen. Commissioning of the SeaXplorer 77 is planned for September 2020.
