Eekels | TBI delivers complete electrical installation RoPax ferries

Damen has commissioned Eekels for the complete electrical installation of two RoPax ferries, MV Veteran and MV Legionnaire. On 23 October 2015, MV Veteran was ceremoniously transferred to the government of Newfoundland and Labrador (GNL) in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. MV Veteran is the first of two ice class RoPax ferries, which form the “lifeline replacement” for the current 30-year-old ferries. MV Veteran will sail between Fogo and Change islands in Newfoundland, Canada.

Her sister ship MV Legionnaire has now been commissioned in Galatz, Romania, and is ready to be technically transferred to its owners. MV Legionnaire will sail according to schedule between Bell Island and Portugal Cove. Eekels is responsible for the complete electrical installation, in conjunction with our Canadian supplier. Eekels carried out the onboard electrical installation in Romania.

The vessels are 81.5 metres long and 17.2 metres wide and have a capacity of 200 passengers and 64 cars. The propulsion system consists of two azimuth thrusters. The engine room has three main engines and one emergency generator. The vessels have also been fitted out with bowthrusters.
