Eekels | TBI delivers first drive panel to Huisman for two 10.000 mt cranes
Following engineering, production and commissioning of the drive panels for two 10.000mt ‘tub mounted cranes’ to be installed on the new build crane vessel “SLEIPNIR” for owners Heerema Offshore Services, Eekels Technology B.V. is proud to announce that the first drive panel has been successfully completed and delivered to Huisman.
Following an intensive engineering cooperation with Huisman, Eekels recently concluded testing of the first drive panel witnessed by Huisman and end customer Heerema. Tests conducted on the first in series comprised a.o. testing of the internal heat management and the cranes brake resistor units. The tests were conducted in a real time environment with hooked-up generators, loadbank, brake resistors and cooling water units.
In order to realize the extensive test environment, Eekels rented a test facility within walking distance of their production site with ample space to accommodate the drive panel and test equipment.
The first of in total eight drive panels follows recent delivery of 4 pcs.11 kV High voltage switchboards, 8 pcs. 11/0,69 kV /12 pulse transformers (in semi 24 pulse configuration) and 4 pcs. 11/0,44 kV distribution transformers. The subsequent seven drive panels are sequentially scheduled for delivery during the coming weeks.
The drive systems will be installed in the Huisman designed and fabricated tub cranes which will be the world’s largest offshore cranes, with a lifting capacity of 10,000 metric tonnes at 48 meters each.
