A new vessel, a longstanding partnership and another complete electrical solution from Eekels. With the delivery of Thun Response, the fifth vessel in a series of ten modern tankers for Swedish shipping company Erik Thun AB is complete. The 115-metre oil and chemical tanker marks another milestone in this collaboration.

Eekels was responsible for the vessel’s entire electrical scope, from the design and supply of the systems through to installation and commissioning. Managing this work as a whole allowed the different electrical installations to be closely coordinated.

A key part of the project is the power system. Thun Response is equipped with a Marpower solution that includes a Multi Drive Cabinet. This brings together the shaft generator, bow thruster, shore power connection and battery pack. By combining these systems, the vessel can make efficient use of different energy sources, helping to reduce fuel consumption.

Eekels also delivered a wide range of other electrical installations. The scope included the main switchboards, bridge consoles, all cabling, lighting, fire detection system and navigation systems. Together, these components form an integrated installation designed for reliability, safety and ease of use on board.

The delivery of Thun Response is another great result of our collaboration with Erik Thun AB and all partners involved. With five vessels in the series delivered, we look forward to the projects ahead. We wish Thun Response and her crew safe voyages!
