Eekels | TBI proud of Eneco Bio Golden Raand project

In mid-January Eekels | TBI began the expansion of the Eneco Bio Golden Raand (BGR) plant in Delfzijl. The goal of this expansion is to be able to supply steam to companies such as Akzo Nobel by the fourth quarter of 2016.

The project is well in line with Eekels’ strategy to execute multidisciplinary projects in Northern Netherlands. The project is executed in close collaboration with Eneco and Tebodin, with Eekels being responsible for the mechanical engineering, electrotechnical and civil engineering elements. On 19 April the first pile was drilled in the presence of the many invited. Subsequently the remaining piles were drilled, the civil foundations poured and the pipe bridge and other support structures constructed. Simultaneously, in our workshop in Emmen, the various pipe spools were manufactured, checked and transported to the project location in Farmsum. In July a start was made with hoisting the first pipe spools into place and completing the final welding on site. At the same time the complete E&I installation designed by Eekels was installed on location.

The excellent collaboration with Eneco, Tebodin and the various subcontractors and suppliers has enabled Eekels to hand over the keys of the LOTO boxes to Operations on the agreed delivery date. This was also the start date for the commissioning phase of the project. The commissioning team consists of Eneco, Tebodin and Eekels employees, each with their own area of expertise regarding the process and installation. This combined knowledge ensures a strong team, resulting in a safe, fast and controlled commissioning. Eekels is therefore able to say it is immensely proud of this result and would like to thank everyone involved for their commitment in this project. Thanks to you all it has been a success!
