Eekels | TBI receives order from Nantong Tongbao Shipyard for Grid Converter

In the spring of 2016, Eekels received the order for the production and delivery of a water cooled grid converter in combination with the shaft generator with an electrical power of 500 kW.

The system will be installed on board of the 8500 T Chemical Tanker for Shanghai Shipping at the Nantong Tongbao Shipyard in Nantong. The order comprises the delivery of systems for four vessels with an option for another twelve vessels. The delivery in China for the first tanker is scheduled for November 2016. The compact design was the biggest challenge. The project team is at an advanced stage with the engineering and production preparations. The construction works already started at the Eekels facilities in Kolham and Emmen, the Netherlands.
