Kolham, 22-06-2015
Eekels Technology B.V. is proud to announce that Huisman Equipment B.V. has rewarded the company with the order for the drive systems for two 10,000mt ‘tub mounted cranes’ to be installed on the Heerema (HOS - Heerema Offshore Services) new build crane vessel NSCV (New Semi-Submersible Crane Vessel).
The order involves the design, engineering, production and testing of the completely outfitted drive system cabinets comprising the cranes’ frequency inverters and in-house production of water cooling units, as well as the delivery of the 12-pulse High Voltage transformers (configured as a semi 24 pulse System), distribution transformers and 11 kV High Voltage switchboards.
The drive systems comprise a total of 8 back-to-back panels, each approx. 10 meters in length. Delivery of the units at the Huisman Schiedam site is scheduled for early 2016.
The drive systems will be installed in the Huisman designed and fabricated tub cranes which will be the world’s largest offshore cranes, with a lifting capacity of 10.000 metric tonnes at 48 meters each.
Eekels is especially proud that both Huisman and Heerema have confidence in Eekels’ capabilities as a partner and drive-system specialist for this prestigious project.
The order represents the largest system order awarded to Eekels for a single vessel yet, and marks another milestone in the dynamic development of the company towards their position as an appreciated partner in extensive and complex technical projects.
