Launching ‘Arklow Abbey’ at Ferus Smit Westerbroek

On Thursday, July 18, the ‘Arklow Abbey’, hull number FS437, was successfully launched at Shipyard Ferus Smit Westerbroek.

Eekels | TBI designed and delivered the complete electrical installation for the first vessel in the series of six ‘Arklow A’ 8,600 DWT vessels to be built as a follow-up to the Arklow B-series. The ‘Arklow Abbey’ has a length of 119.5 metres and a width of 15 metres. The delivery includes a 400V main and emergency switchboard, the alarm system, the 275kW bow thruster motor equipped with an Eekels frequency drive, an axle generator and the control desks for the bridge. In addition to cabling and installation work for own and third party installations, Eekels also provided the lighting installation and the alarm system up to the searchlights.
