Launching of “Greenland”

On 31 October 2015, the FS423 Greenland was launched from the Ferus Smit shipyard in Westerbroek.

Eekels has delivered the complete electrical installation, bowthruster drive, switchboards and panels, and the automation and alarm systems for the Greenland.

The Greenland is being built for the Swedish shipping company Erik Thun AB and will mainly transport cement powder for the Norwegian Jebsen company (KGJS).

In addition to the slow steaming concept, in which the main engine revolves on a lower revolution rate and uses substantially less fuel, the Greenland uses LNG as its main fuel. This is why shipyard Ferus Smit calls this type of ship "Eco Cement DF" (dual fuel).

The Greenland shall be delivered at the end of 2015
