Successful sea trial of ‘Arklow Accord’

On Friday 10 January this year, after a successful sea trial from Delfzijl/de Eemshaven, shipyard Ferus Smit Westerbroek transferred the ‘Arklow Accord’, build number FS438, to the shipowner. Eekels | TBI designed and supplied the entire electrical installation for the second ship of the series of six new 8600 dwt vessels that is being built for the Irish shipowner Arklow.

The delivery includes a 400V main and emergency switchboard, the alarm system, the 380kW bow thruster motor equipped with an Eekels frequency drive, an axle generator and the control desks for the bridge. In addition to cabling and installation work for own and third party installations, Eekels also provided the lighting installation and the alarm system up to the searchlights.

The present Arklow ‘A’ series is a further development from the series of six Arklow ‘B’ vessels delivered by Ferus Smit and fitted out by us in 2014-15.
