Tewaterlating “Arklow Archer” bij Ferus Smit Westerbroek

On Friday the 12th of June, the “Arklow Archer”, hull number FS440, was successfully launched at the Ferus Smit shipyard in Westerbroek.

Eekels | TBI designed and supplied the complete electrical system for the fourth vessel in the series of six “Arklow A” 8600 DWT vessels, which are being built as a continuation of the Arklow B series. The “Arklow Archer” is 119.5 metres long and 15 metres wide. The delivery includes the engineering, installation and commissioning of a 400V main and emergency switchboard, the 275kW bow thruster motor equipped with an Eekels frequency drive, an axle generator and the control desks for the bridge.

In addition, the advanced Marpower Automation System (MAS) forms part of the delivery. The Marpower Automation System (MAS) monitors the various subsystems on board the vessel. The Marpower Automation System is under continuous development with the aim of eventually sailing autonomously.
