Porthos

Recently the vessel MV Porthos, named after one of the three musketeers from the world-famous book by Alexandre Dumas, was delivered by the Chinese shipyard Zhejiang Zengzhou Shipbuilding to the shipping company Briese Shipping. MV Porthos is a 5.000 ton energy saving multi-purpose cargo vessel with a so called ‘open top’ notation, meaning an open area without hatches allowing extra high load to be transported in the hold. It is the first of four ships; the delivery of the remaining three is planned later this year.

Eekels is proud to have designed, supplied and commissioned the electrical installation in cooperation with our joint venture partner SaierNico. Part of the supply is the shaft-generator, bow thruster motor, bow thruster drive, alarm system, fire detection system, telephone system, PA system, water ingress system, CCTV system, xenon searchlight, energy saving system, panel building and several other small equipment. The panel building including the main switchboard, emergency switchboard, distribution boards and wheelhouse console is carried out by SaierNico.

We are looking forward to further cooperation with Zhejiang Zengzhou Shipbuilding, Briese Shipping and SaierNico!
